Structured Finance

We structure tailored funding solutions to reinforce the growth and development plans of companies with high industrial potential and growth prospects. We intervene at times of significant discontinuity in a company’s life to implement key investment or business acquisition projects that call for highly specialised skills.

Turnaround & Credit Opportunities

In distress situations we work by using a variety of instruments and technical forms, also in combination:
  • Disbursement of new super senior finance (possibly by way of “pre-deduction” as defined by the New Crisis Code.
  • Purchase of single name loans with the resulting revision of terms and conditions.

In cases of discontinuity, we mainly perform two kinds of intervention:
  • Refinancing to complete a revival path (e.g. early withdrawal from restructuring agreements, bridges and extraordinary operations).
  • New funding in the form of subordinated or hybrid debt instruments (e.g. bullet or convertible financing), supporting the restructuring/simplification of the capital structure and/or accelerating development plans.

Factoring

Solutions to fund working capital and supply chain finance and obtain short-term liquidity. Factoring performs four functions having the aim of enabling companies to receive payment for their invoices by transferring credit risk to factors: invoice management; covering invoice risk by having the factor pay over the billed amount; obtaining liquidity, this representing the financing feature; and finally improving credit access ratings.

Capital Markets

We support small and mid-caps wishing to achieve organic and non-organic growth and optimise their financial structure through the use of tailored solutions. As Global Coordinator, we accompany businesses in structuring their listing processes. As Euronext Growth Advisor, we assist companies wanting to list on the Euronext Growth Milan market.

Securitisation

We find efficient structured-finance solutions that call for a high level of specialisation and financial expertise as a means of diversifying our customers’ funding sources, improving their financial position and optimising their capital absorption. We act as Arranger and Lead Manager in structuring securitisation, basket bond, basket loan and alternative debt operations and placing the instruments on the market.

Financial Markets

We invest in both the primary and secondary corporate bond market and the “alternative debt” market to support businesses and finance their current activity and future growth plans with speedy execution and quick time to market. Thanks to the synergies with the Corporate Banking area and the Specialised Credit and b-ilty divisions, we offer companies a wide range of hedging solutions, providing them with the tools required to reduce the risks arising from their operations

Enrico Fagioli Marzocchi

Deputy CEO

A graduate of Bocconi University, Enrico has 40 years of professional experience and in illimity leads the Corporate Banking Division, which provides services to Italian SMEs ranging from performing companies with plans for growth and development to non-performing companies with potential for renovation and relaunch. Since 2022, he has served as Chairman of illimity SGR and Key Man of the iSC Fund managed by the SGR. In February 2025, Enrico is nominated Deputy CEO of illimity with responsibility for all business areas of the Bank and the Group.

Stefano began his professional career in IMI- Istituto Mobiliare Italiano, then moving into the world of corporate banking and structured finance to take managerial roles in important financial companies. He joined illimity in 2018 where he currently holds the position of Head of Structured Finance.

The passion for finance and extraordinary transactions led Umberto Paolo to specialize in supporting companies undergoing discontinuity
phases: restructuring, capital structure optimization exercises and M&A.

Umberto Paolo matured more than 25 years of experience in investment banking (Rothschild and Mediobanca) and operational advisory
(Alvarez & Marsal) and today he is the Head of the Turnaround & Credit Opportunities Division at illimity.

Florentine by birth and Milanese by adoption, he devotes his spare time to literature and cycling.
